Solo hike up Roy's Peak, Wanaka

A 16km route, rising 1228m in elevation.
Richard and I climbed this peak in the winter of 1998 in
the snow, and I have always wanted to go back.
The track zig zags up the hill straight from the car park with
constant views of Lake Wanaka, and then after reaching
the main ridge Mount Aspiring appears to the west.

This guy apparantly walks up this peak
regularly and then jumps off to float
back down to the car!!

The top looks deceivingly close, but there is
still a long way to go from here

Mount Aspiring

A much longer route down via more peaks

Richard's taxi service waiting patiently at the bottom!
